October is
National Window Covering
Safety Month
Window covering professionals at Dimensions consider window covering safety year round.
In recent years, manufacturers have redesigned corded products and developed cord-safety standards with cord-safety features now built right into window coverings, Parents can feel more confident about their child's safety by replacing older window coverings, or by retrofitting.
Kids...Cords...Caution
The Window Covering Safety Council (WCSC) recommends the following:
Move cribs, beds, furniture and toys away from windows and cords.
Keep window pull cords out of the reach of children. Keep tassled pull cords short and continuous cord loops anchored to the wall.
Be sure cord stops are properly installed and adjusted to limit movement of inner lift cords. Using professional window covering consultants and installers ensures your blinds are installed properly.
Always lock cords into position...even when they are resting on the window sill.
Replace blinds and shades manufactured before 2001 with today's safer products or *retrofit them with cord-retrofit devices. Install cordless window coverings in children's bedrooms and play areas.
