Foil-Faced Sheathing
POWERFOAM's commodity grade foil-faced sheathing is a highly efficient way to help homeowners and builders affordably meet model energy codes and HUD/FHA R-19 (U=.05) WALL STANDARDS.
Using standard R-13 batts with 2" x 4" framing construction Powerfoam foil-faced sheathing can help you pinpoint the exact R-value you wish to achieve, thus eliminating the need for expensive R-19 glass fiber batts and 2" x 6" framing.
The selection of the most economical thickness of POWERFOAM foil-faced sheathing depends on several factors including exterior finish. This can further reduce construction costs.
Advantages
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
POWERFOAM SHEATHING is designed for vertical installation over the exterior side of the studs using 7/16" head roofing nails 4" on center or 3/4" crown staples 8" on center. Staples should be used with 50 pounds pressure. Fastener should be 2" or, at least 1" longer than thickness of the sheathing.
POWERFOAM SHEATHING is nonstructural and must be coner braced with steel strapping or let-in bracing. (See cut away drawing)
POWERFOAM SHEATHING must be fully protected on the inside of the building by a thermal barrier equivalent. This requirement includes, but is not limited to garages, crawl spaces and basement walls.
