hot%20air%20balloon.jpg  HOT AIR BALLOON RIDES AT THE WOODLANDS!

Yes, believe it or not we are going to offer Hot Air Balloon rides during the month of October!  Our pharmacy owner, Ernie, has offered to tether his balloon in the adjacent field and will take residents up to a birds eye view of the beautiful fall colors.  We can't post the date because it is dependent upon weather conditions, but will release a notice and post it as soon as we have the specifics!

Zumba gold is a series of fitness programs specifically designed to take the exciting Latin and International dance and fitness program created in the original ZUMBA program and bring them to the seniors.  The Zumba Gold programs are guaranteed to provide all participants with a safe and effective total body workout.  This energized program creates a party-like atmosphere that is incredibly fun, different, easy to follow and very effective in improving resident flexibility.

Nintendo Wii becomes a popular activity!

wii.jpg

Wii is the hottest video game console on the market and is rapidly invading assisted living homes across the country.  The very popular bowling game is the center of attention for activities due to its therapeutic benefits.

Our Wii is holding up to its reputation!  This game has quickly become an activity of choice among our residents.  2009 will kick-off with bowling tournaments on the activity schedule and a new teaching class for beginners as well as an advanced class for the "pros"! NALW%20001.jpg

New in May: Travel to play Wii at a surprise destination with a HUGE screen!

new21.gif  On September 30th, a team of residents will compete in the "Wii Love Life" tournament at the Aladdin Shrine Temple.

i.g.n.i.t.e. is a uniquely designed intergenerational program used solely at The Woodlands.  The Woodlands is an Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s Care community located at 5380 East Broad Street in Columbus.

i.g.n.i.t.e. was created to enhance the lives of our residents while benefiting children ages pre-school though 12the grade with the opportunity to learn from and experience the knowledge and nurturing of an older generation, thereby igniting the fire of a lifetime of  amazement with education and the wonder of life.  We are proud to offer a wide variety of opportunities for individuals, classes, groups and organizations to partner with us.  A few examples of previous projects have included: Pen Pal Programs, Choir Performances, Craft Projects, Book Creation, and Bible Study/Church Service.

Woodlands%20Artwork%20016.jpg

We tailor each program or project to size and age of each group.  We currently are excited to have one on one student volunteers through groups of 75.  Healthy, peanut-free snacks are provided and each young group program is concluded with the reading of “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss.  We believe this book summarizes our goal of the i.g.n.i.t.e. program and has an inspiring message for all generations.

In addition to inviting the youth to our community, we also welcome the opportunity for us to attend programs at your specific location.  Our residents have enjoyed theatrical and choir performances and art shows.
